ventura county star article

the articles just keep coming. truthfully, this will most likely be the last, but working on the sergio aragonés project has been such a rewarding experience. myrna cambianca, the museum’s publicity coordinator, really pushed for us to get recognized for our hard work. read the article here.

& the sepulveda dam">esau & the sepulveda dam

i see what is known as the sepulveda dam from the 101 quite often. from there it seems like this luxurious expanse of grey concrete, inviting you to sit and soak in the warmth from the hot valley sun. i finally went with my friend esau the other day. here are some pictures (i felt like diptychs today, apparently).

shelby day

dear shelby,

happy birthday to the cutest little niece in the whole wide world. how did you get so cute? and more importantly,
since today is your birthday, how did you grow up so fast?

love, auntie ellen

thanksgiving

when we were young. remember when being bratty was so much fun? when playing in a cardboard box occupied hours at a time? of course you don’t, because when you’re a kid you don’t think, you just kind of are. you exist in the moment. thank you to the young people in our lives and all that they remind us of.

late november morning

i usually hate waking up in the morning. i don’t like to leave the warm, enveloping comfort of my bed. lately, i have been fasting and my body is behaving quite differently. this morning i woke up at 4 am and would have been okay not going back to sleep. but i did. because i really love to dream.
